Suboxone, a medication used to treat opioid addiction, was approved for use by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2002. In 2022, the FDA issued a warning regarding Suboxone’s increased risk for dental side effects, citing more than 300 reports of dental caries in regular users. The warning came too late for one Ohio woman who began using Suboxone after becoming addicted to prescription pain medications.
