This review to determine whether root canal treatment causes greater stress than other dental treatments, especially extractions, in patients and providers of dental treatment included 23 studies. The findings suggest that root canal treatment was more psychologically stressful for patients than routine restorative or cleaning procedures however a majority of the included studies (52%) were at high risk of bias.

The center was opened by local dentists who wanted to serve the needs of Toledo-area residents living in poverty. In 1920, the center began also providing care to adults. Recently, the center has been treating approximately 25,000 patients per year, most of whom are covered by Medicaid, which few private practice dentists accept.

With the exception of one study all were retrospective with meta-analysis indicating a mean eruption success of 57.6% (95%CI; 47.8 to 67.0%). A study published in The Journal of the American Dental Association found that hemostatic agents appear to control bleeding after tooth extractions better than conventional methods among healthy people and those at high risk of bleeding who take antithrombotic drugs.
