Lennon Rodgers, PhD, MS, director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s (UW) Grainger Engineering Design Innovation Laboratory, has created a low-cost prototype “contactless” thermometer to help students monitor their COVID-19 symptoms. . Using a sensor from a commercially available thermometer, Rogers added a microcontroller and distance sensor controlled by open-source code.
