Study Investigates Impact of Floss and Interdental Brushes on Periodontitis

New research conducted in Korea looks at the effects of flossing and interdental brush use on the prevention of periodontitis. With more than 11,600 subjects, the study included individuals ages 19 and older, some of whom had 20 or more teeth and some with 20 or fewer teeth. Participants underwent a periodontal assessment and then answered a questionnaire on whether they used floss or interdental brushes for interdental cleaning. Among women with 20 or more teeth, interdental brush use was associated with periodontal health. No differences in periodontal health were found among those with 20 or fewer teeth regardless of whether they used floss or interdental brushes. Click here to read more.
