Sedation Dentistry For Dental Anxiety And Phobias

Sedation Dentistry Marietta

During dental operations, sedation dentistry ensures that you will feel no discomfort. This supplement can benefit people who experience dental anxiety or are undergoing extensive treatment. Nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and intravenous (IV) sedation are several methods that can be utilized. Marietta Dentists who wish to practice specific types of sedation dentistry must obtain specialized certification.

What Is Dental Sedation?

During dental operations, sedation dentistry can help you feel more at peace while promoting a calm and relaxed state of mind. Because it is only a modest amount of sedation, you are technically awake but feel incredibly comfortable even though you are under its influence. It is frequently referred to as twilight sleep or conscious sedation dentistry because it induces a state of amnesia (forgetfulness) that lasts only temporarily and diminishes pain awareness without causing the patient to lose consciousness.

Who Needs Dental Sedation?

Sedation dentistry is beneficial for patients of all ages, including children. Dentists frequently suggest this choice for patients who have:

  • Dental phobia
  • A phobia of going to the dentist.
  • Extreme sensitivity in the gag reflex.
  • A concern for needles (aichmophobia).
  • Susceptible teeth.
  • Claustrophobia while seated in the dental chair.
  • Local anesthetic sensitivity has decreased.
  • Controlling movement is complex.
  • Individual needs (including physical, cognitive, or behavioral).

Types Of Sedation

Sedation dentistry is an ideal option for those who experience uncomfortable feelings of anxiety when undergoing dental procedures. Depending on the nature of your treatment, one of several sedative methods may be recommended. The necessary treatment, as well as the level of dental anxiety, will determine this.

Oral Sedation

A single dose of medicine is typically prescribed for this method, taken approximately an hour before the session. Most patients do not remember any part of the treatment and report feeling very comfortable while it is being administered. Most patients do not retain any part of the treatment and report feeling very pleased while it is being

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, popularly known as laughing gas, is a substance that is highly useful in treating anxiety in children. It can be used on its own or as a supplement to other oral sedative techniques.

 Intravenous Sedation

Intravenous Sedation and general anesthesia are the best solutions for individuals with substantial treatment demands and extreme oral phobia. Patients who require general anesthesia and IV sedation have considerable treatment needs. In most cases, a trained dental anesthesiologist is the one who performs these procedures.

What Are The Benefits Of Sedation Dentistry?

Finally, going to the dentist is something people dread. Sedation dentistry can alleviate fears and concerns about visiting the dentist, allowing patients to feel more relaxed throughout treatment. Sedation dentistry makes you feel more comfortable, so you may get the dental care you require. If you are sedated during dental work, your dentist may be able to complete the procedure more quickly.

Sedation Dentistry In Marietta

You should not let anxiety prevent you from getting the high-quality dental treatment you deserve. Sedation dentistry in Marietta can assist you in receiving the necessary dental care even if the idea of coming to the dentist causes you to experience anxiety or fear. This will allow you to maintain your oral health for the long term. Talk to your dentist in Marietta about your options for sedation, and select one that’s comfortable for you.

Dr. Daniel Lee is the best dentist I've seen. She's so considerate of your fear of the dentist and was so painless although multiple procedures were done at the same time to save me a visit. Will definitely be coming here for years to come Il!

Susan

Dr. Gilreath is incredible with my kids. They love going to the dentist now! And this busy mom loves the warm neck wraps, the soft music and enjoying a latte while I relax!

Was lucky enough to find these guys when I got insurance that my old dentist did not take. Very professional and friendly staff! Office has the latest greatest technology as well. If you're looking for a new dentist, search no further!

Susie L.

Very personable and friendly, they took the time to go over my complex dental history and did not pressure me into anything. They gave their recommendations and priced out any options I had. Great group!

Dr. Gilreath and his staff are top notch. I received the best cleaning I've ever had while watching my favorite show. The Doctor and his staff were all very polite, friendly, and courteous. They explained everything to me clearly and presented me with options in a gentle way that didn't make me feel pressured at all. It's obvious they really care about the wellbeing of their patients. The facility and equipment is really nice as well. I will definitely be back!

Always willing to work around my kids and my schedules. Today I had a long appointment. They started on time and always made sure I was comfortable and that the pain was managed so the procedure could’ve been completed without issues. Very courteous and professional staff.

Awesome dental practice! The staff is friendly and efficient. Dr. Gilreath is thorough and versed in the latest technology and procedures. I love that he can make crowns in the office while you wait (so no walking around with a temporary crown for days or weeks). I would strongly recommend this dental practice!

I've been going here for about a little over a year now. I've had a few cleanings, a filling, and started Invisiline so far. Hands down, the best run dental office I've ever been to. In the past at other dental offices I often had to wait 30 or more minutes beyond my appointment time before being seen. At Dr. Gilreath's office I've been seen on time every time. They seem to have systems in place to make every part of your visit run smoothly. From how they took x-rays, to billing and appointments, to the work done by the hygienist/dentist, everything seems to run like a well oiled machine. On top of that all the staff are all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The office space itself is also quite nice. Very clean, well maintained, and seems very "up to date" with their equipment. If you're looking for a dentist and are anywhere in the northwest metro area I would highly recommend Dr. Gilreath.
