State Budget Surpluses Lead to Boost in Reimbursement for Dental Providers

One of the biggest impediments to improving access to care across the United States is the low reimbursement offered to dental providers who see patients covered by public insurance programs. This has resulted in few dental providers wanting to be part of such government-funded programs. Fortunately, some states have a budget surplus and are using those funds to boost reimbursement rates for dental providers. Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia will all increase dental reimbursement rates beginning in 2023.
