Little Evidence Shows School-Based Oral Health Screenings Increase Likelihood of Dental Visits

A recently published Cochrane Review found insufficient evidence to support the idea that school-based dental screenings lead to children seeking professional dental care. The authors analyzed studies from the United Kingdom, India, United States, and Saudi Arabia, which included more than 21,000 children. The studies compared whether children who had undergone dental screenings at school were more likely to then seek out professional dental care compared to those kids who had never received an oral health screening at school.
