Study Demonstrates COVID-19 Boosters Are Safe and Effective

A United Kingdom-based study showed that six COVID-19 vaccines were safe and effective when administered as boosters. Published in The Lancet, results found that the AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Novavax, and Curevac COVID-19 vaccines produced an immune response when administered 10 weeks to 12 weeks after participants had either received the initial two-dose regimen of AstraZeneca or Pfizer. A seventh vaccine, Valneva, was also tested. It did boost immunity among those who had received the AstraZeneca vaccines but not Pfizer’s. No safety issues were found with any of the vaccines. Currently, only the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines are available in the United States. Click here to read more.
