Oral Vitamin D Supplements May Help Tooth Remineralization

A study that investigated the impact of oral vitamin D supplementation on the remineralization of teeth found that maintaining adequate levels of this important nutrient improved surface microhardness and mineral content, effectively supporting the remineralization process. Published in Cureus on May 26, the study was conducted on 120 extracted premolars that were submerged in saliva containing varying levels of vitamin D. The teeth exposed to saliva given by subjects who had been taking 1,000 IU of vitamin D3 had the highest mineral levels and surface hardness. Click here to read more.
