“Google it”

By: Katie Klaes

Once a company’s name becomes a verb, you know they have made a huge impact on daily life and culture. Google receives about 3 million applications per year with an acceptance rate somewhere in the 0.2% to 0.67% range. The company was ranked #7 on Glassdoor’s 2022 list of Best Places to Work.

While there are numerous and varied reasons so many people want to work for Google, the company’s benefits and perks are widely known to be some of the best in the business.

How To Attract Quality Dentistry Employees

What can dentists model from this trillion-dollar company that will work in their own businesses?

Health insurance and 401(K) match

I’ve worked at offices that offered one, both, and neither. Taking care of your employees’ physical health as well as financial health can be a huge factor in creating happy and invested team members.

Free food, coffee, and juice bars

While it likely is not feasible to offer free meals to your employees every day, could you make it more of a regular treat (every other week, once a month) or as a surprise reward after a previous day’s high production number or excellent handling of a difficult patient?

Free cooking classes as team-building exercises

My previous office planned a team activity once a quarter and these events were monumental in building rapport between employees both seasoned and new.

Some of our favorites were a zipline adventure course, escape room, and Board & Brush.

Variety of learning and development programs

When in-person CE returns and/or everyone feels comfortable, are you planning on bringing your team to any CE events?

Have you sought out any online learning opportunities for your team over the past two years? Active learning will help to keep employees engaged and excited about what they do day-to-day.

Attract Quality Employees with Perks and Benefits

Great benefits and perks help attract great candidates. I hope these suggestions have been helpful.
