Dental Practices Face Hiring Shortages

According to a poll conducted by the American Dental Association (ADA) Health Policy Institute, 35.8% of dental practices are looking to hire dental assistants, 28.8% are searching for dental hygienists, 26.5% have open administrative positions, and 13.1% are in need of associate dentists. More than 80% of dentists surveyed noted that hiring was more difficult now than prior to COVID-19.

Rutgers Receives FDA Approval for Cancer Therapy Clinical Trials

Actinobac Biomed, a company founded by Rutgers School of Dental Medicine researcher Scott Kachlany, PhD, has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to begin a Phase I clinical trial in patients who have relapsed or refractory leukemia of lymphoma, according to the college. Clinical trials for the drug, leukothera, will begin with 24 patients.
