The Benefits Of Automatic Mouthwash Dispensers in Maintaining Hygiene

While a lot of people see hygiene as a top priority, for others, the method of achieving it needs to be convenient enough to actually stick to a hygiene routine. Most of the time, this is in regard to the actual handling of the material and the container in which the said chemical arrives.

Now, the majority of people are already familiar with soap dispensers and hand sanitizer dispensers, but they’ve never heard of mouthwash dispensers. What are these mouthwash dispensers? What is their role in one’s hygiene routine? In what ways are they going to revolutionize the oral hygiene routine as we know it?

Well, here are some answers to these questions and all that a dental hygienist should know about the advantages and disadvantages of mouthwash dispensers!

1. Makes using mouthwash more compelling

Have you ever met a person who never drank freshly squeezed orange juice before they got an automatic juicer and, from that point on, drank a couple of glasses every day? For a lot of people, the entire daily routine revolves around convenience. They go through their day by doing things that are simple and avoiding anything that’s either difficult or that they deem to be out of their way.

Well, now that the auto mouthwash dispenser has made it more convenient, more people might start using mouthwash in their everyday routine.

Still, why is the use of mouthwash so important?

First of all, the use of mouthwash is there to reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth. There’s a huge myth about mouthwash causing more harm than it prevents by killing all the helpful bacteria, but the truth is that the benefits still outweigh the harm. This “good” bacteria is renewed quicker than you think, and the bad bacteria won’t recover that quickly.

In fact, a lot of these myths usually don’t even come from real dental hygienists but from people who just impersonate them.

Another thing to keep in mind is that mouthwash makes a serious difference in preventing plaque and gingivitis. This is especially the case if it contains ingredients like chlorhexidine or cetylpyridinium.

Ultimately, it’s good for your gums for one’s breath, and it just feels so good (makes your breath fresher in an instant).

While some would assume that all these benefits are reasons enough for people to use mouthwash, some need an extra incentive. Some of this incentive may come in the form of an advanced dispenser.

2. Appropriate amount of mouthwash

Generally speaking, the range of mouthwash that you should use is between 20-25ml. Using less would limit the effectiveness, while using more would be excessive use. Sure, mouthwash is not so expensive; however, a dental hygienist might use more of it in their work than you think. Therefore, even this can make a difference and minimize waste.

The majority of mouthwashes use the cap of the bottle as a measure. In fact, the majority of manufacturers develop a cap that’s in this exact range. The problem, however, comes from the fact that you’re supposed to use the exact same cap every time, with a lot of people not even rinsing the cap properly after a previous use. Even for hygienists, this would reduce the amount of work necessary (not dealing with mouthwash but directly with cups).

This means that while someone is using a mouthwash that’s supposed to sanitize one’s mouth, they’re actually sipping it from the cap that’s not properly sanitized. In other words, they’re defeating the whole purpose of the process to begin with.

With the help of an automatic mouthwash dispenser, you could skip this problem in its entirety. This way, you would always get the optimal amount of mouthwash and not have to worry about anything else.

3. More sanitary containment

Another massive advantage of automatic mouthwash dispensers lies in the fact that you get a more sanitary containment for the mouthwash. As we’ve mentioned previously, it’s not just the mouthwash that’s the problem but the container itself.

While this may not seem like that big of a problem during the entire process of opening the bottle and pouring it into the glass (even if you’re not using the cap as a glass), you’ll risk contaminating it.

With an automatic dispenser, you maintain a more sanitary environment, which is already a challenge at most dentist’s offices.

This is also a challenge in shared spaces, like dental offices and public areas.

Just think about the equivalent – an automatic dispenser of hand sanitizer. Is there a reason why there’s a dispenser in public spaces and not the bottle? Of course, there is! With so many people touching the bottle, you have no idea how clean everyone’s hands are. Well, with a dispenser, at least there’s no contact between the substance in the container and its (questionably clean) surroundings.

4. Easily accessible and highly convenient

These automatic dispensers are also much easier to use for people with limited mobility. Keep in mind that when you have limited mobility, maintaining personal hygiene is already a challenge. This way, it’s not as big of a challenge.

Even more importantly, since they’re so easy to use, people with disabilities can often use them independently. This means that they are given a chance to limit their dependency on others as much as possible, which helps them regain a lot of confidence.

Another thing that’s so great about dispensers is the fact that they’re so quickly accessible. You would be surprised at how many people just skip using mouthwash to save a few seconds. Well, now, time-saving is no longer an excuse, which increases the chance that at least some who skipped it for this reason might start using it.

Moreover, you no longer have to deal with caps, bottles, etc. These dispensers are just much simpler to use, and once you get used to them, you won’t be able to go back to the way things were in the past.

With this specialized equipment, that’s made to be more available to people with disabilities, a disability will no longer necessarily be a bottleneck for someone pursuing a career as a dental hygienist.

Wrap up

Mouthwash is crucial when it comes to one’s dental health; this is why so many hygienists recommend and use it. Still, a superior dispenser can make this a lot easier. You can get your mouthwash in a simpler, cleaner, and more accurate manner. In other words, it’s all the advantages without a downside.
