Russian Dentists Struggle to Adapt Their Practice in Response to Sanctions

Russian dental providers rely almost entirely on imported dental materials from the United States and Europe to treat their patients. With strict sanctions now in place as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine this past February, Russian dentists are faced with treating patients with subpar materials while raising prices at the same time. Fillings, implants, prosthetics, crowns, and cement are some of the most commonly used materials in Russian dental offices that have no local alternative. The latest options in dental anesthetics are also only available from abroad, and implantology has basically ceased to exist due to lack of materials.
