National Institutes of Health Initiates Major Study on Long-Haul COVID-19

A certain segment of those who recover from COVID-19 experience lingering symptoms such as breathing difficulty, fatigue, post-exertional malaise, brain fog, and headache. In order to better understand these post-COVID symptoms, the United States National Institutes of Health is undertaking an ambitious study on the subject. The study will include analysis of more than 40 million health records and will encompass populations diverse in age, race, and gender. The goals of the study are to determine how frequently long-haul COVID-19 occurs, ascertain whether there are different classifications, identify risk factors, and elucidate potential treatments.
