Fear of the unknown is the easiest one to deal with. Some children are naturally fearless and brave while others are timid and shy. Usually, after a child has experienced something once they relax, gain confidence and the fear quickly dispels.
Does your child ride scary roller coasters and dance on stage in front of people at any chance? If they do have a nature that is outgoing and usually fearless, but they show discomfort at the idea of going to the dentist, the fear probably comes from one of the other reasons on the list.
It is not always possible to identify or remove the feelings of anxiety children experience. So sometimes we need to use sedation dentistry to help them through.
