On August 31, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) adjusted the Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to include a modified dose designed to provide protection against the Omicron BA.5 This is the first revision to the vaccines since they debuted in December 2020.
