ADA Updates Its Guide to Safe Dental Practice During COVID-19

The American Dental Association (ADA) has added new information to its Update to Office Procedures During COVID-19 to help oral health professionals make informed decisions regarding the safe practice of dental care during the ongoing pandemic.  New guidance is included on the following topics:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration-required hazard assessments
  • Guidelines from federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial health agencies
  • Suggestions on risk management, including the use of evidence-based decision making and consideration of community-based factors
  • Using professional judgment in decision making
  • Patient screening prior to dental appointments
  • On-site screening for clinicians, staff, patients, and visitors
