Texas Asks Hospitals to Halt Elective Procedures as COVID-19 Cases Surge

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has asked the state’s hospitals to put elective procedures on hold while the state deals with skyrocketing numbers of COVID-19 cases. The governor’s request was sent to the Texas Hospital Association in an effort to conserve hospital beds for patients with SARS-CoV-2. Governor Abbott and the Texas Department of State Health Services also announced they are seeking medical professionals from out of state to help handle the growing number of patients severely ill with COVID-19.
