COVID-19 and Alzheimer Disease Share a Genetic Link

New research recently published in Brain has found the risk for severe COVID-19 illness and Alzheimer disease share a similar immune reaction to viruses. This association lies in the oligoadenylate synthetase 1 gene, which raises the risk for Alzheimer disease and serious COVID-19 illness.
