Belgian Woman Contracted Two Different COVID-19 Variants Simultaneously

In the first ever known case of a person contracting two strains at the same time, a Belgian woman in her 90s came down with both the Alpha and Beta variants of COVID-19 in March, and later died due to COVID-19 illness. Her case demonstrates that it is possible for individuals to pick up different variants at the same time.
