Heart Inflammation Following COVID-19 Vaccination Is Rare

As more data have become available following the COVID-19 vaccination of millions of people around the globe from ages 5 and older, one thing is clear: serious negative effects are rare. However, a small group did develop myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) or pericarditis (inflammation of the heart lining) post-COVID-19 vaccination. Heart inflammation was most commonly found among males between the ages of 12 and 21 after the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. The number of confirmed cases is very low. For example, Israel confirmed 54 cases out of 2.5 million vaccinated Israelis, or 0.002%; 300 cases have been confirmed in the United States, while 1,000 have been reported. Click here to read more.
