Tips To Elevate Your Newsletters

In our previous blogs, we covered the importance of consistent communication with patients. This includes sending newsletters and emails to follow up. Not only does this keep your dental office top of mind, but it will also build your relationship with your patients and nurture their trust.

On the other hand, it can be difficult to write a newsletter amidst the busy days as patients start returning after the lockdown. This is why we created our Newsletter Module to complement our dental management software, Paradigm Clinical. The goal is to help make sending newsletters more convenient. However, it is still up to the office to create engaging newsletters catered to their patients.

Try these tips to improve your newsletters and encourage more patients to open your newsletter:

Catchy Subject Line

You can have the most interesting content but still can’t guarantee subscribers will click on your newsletter. This normally is attributed to a lacklustre subject line and is overshadowed by many other emails the subscriber receives each day.

Having interesting subject lines will entice subscribers to open your email. Another way is to create a sense of urgency. For example:

You won’t want to miss this new service we have

Concise Content

Many people have shorter attention spans nowadays, especially when there is so much information available and not enough time for it all. Keeping your newsletter short and concise will ensure that your subscribers won’t miss important details you are passing along.

Keep your newsletter around 250-500 words (a 2-3minute read) so your subscribers don’t lose focus. Add images and highlight/bold key points to make the content more interesting and dynamic to read.

Call-to-action

Have a goal in mind when you send out your newsletters, whether it be getting more appointments booked, increasing social media following, or improving the patient’s oral care at home.

At the end of your newsletter, include one call-to-action to remind and encourage subscribers to continue to your end goal. Here are some examples you can use:

  • Follow our social media to get the latest updates!
  • Give us a call today to schedule your next recare.
  • Start flossing today for better oral health in the long term.

Consistency

The benefit of having a consistent newsletter schedule is that patients will learn to expect it. Plan out a 3-month schedule of when to send out your newsletter and also decide on what content you want to focus on. This way, you won’t be scrambling to come up with ideas the day before the newsletter was planned to be sent.

We also recommend creating and sticking to the same template each time you send a newsletter out. This reinforces your brand image and helps patients associate your practice with the personality you put forward.

If you don’t have time to create a template from scratch, our Newsletter Module has preset templates you can edit to add your content into easily.

Newsletters are a great way to connect with your patients but would not be effective if they are left unopened. Putting in extra effort to create consistently catchy titles with captivating content will help you increase your open rates. Including a clear call-to-action will give your readers a push to follow through your intended flow, like making an appointment.
