A hotly debated article based on in vitro evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 may insert its own genetic blueprint into the DNA of those who become infected with COVID-19. The MIT researchers found that the inserted genetic code was not strong enough to create more virus, but hearty enough to initiate a positive PCR test.
